Throwing in the towel

by  Mike Fichter

It’s official – the Obama administration has thrown in the towel on its half-hearted effort to keep age restrictions on the over-the-counter sale of so-called “emergency contraceptives.”  The unsurprising capitulation now paves the way for what the Food and Drug Administration promises will be swift approval for making the drug openly and readily available to girls of any age.

Welcome to the latest lowlight in this culture’s mad rush into the abyss.

Welcome to an America where pills that can kill a new life after fertilization may now be stocked next to chewable vitamins and superhero bandages.

Debunking the pro-abortion lie so many Christians have swallowed, “we need to reduce the need for abortion”

by Brian Kemper

I was reading an article a few years ago about the Personhood Amendment in Florida and how vehemently opposed Planned Parenthood was to this legislation.  The article was full of ridiculous statements and lies, as is anything that favors or quotes Planned Parenthood.

I found it funny that Planned Parenthood actually helped expose their own lies about birth control by admitting that the Personhood Amendment would outlaw chemical birth control.  If this is true then the pro-life claim that chemical birth control often destroys a human person in the form of a zygote before implantation must also be true.

‘What happens to women who are denied abortions?’ 95% live happily ever after

The New York Times Magazine will run a story this Sunday with the ominous title “What Happens to Women Who Are Denied Abortions?” Written by Joshua Lang, a student in the UC Berkeley-UCSF Joint Medical Program, the story attempts to answer the question using the “Turnaway Study,” a study of some 200 women who sought abortions and were turned away, mostly due to being too far along to legally perform the procedure.

The study was performed by a group of pro-abortion researchers looking to catalog the negative effects of giving birth to an unplanned baby. Instead, they found that the overwhelming majority of women who wanted abortions but couldn’t get them were happy with the outcome.

Undercover Call Reaffirms Planned Parenthood’s Failure to Report Statutory Rape

Project Defending Life has released a video (http://youtu.be/pTPQhCi9KV0) that features an undercover phone call placed to Planned Parenthood of New Mexico in Albuquerque by a woman seeking an abortion who indicated she was 14 and her boyfriend was 21. The caller was told by a Planned Parenthood employee that they probably would not need to report even though the relationship qualifies as statutory rape.

The caller asked if her age would be a problem. The Planned Parenthood receptionist responded, “In Mexico, there’s no limit on when you can have sexual reproduction rights.”

Girl Scouts Face Abortion Controversy

A recent Girl Scout-sponsored event in New York City, billed as one that would “celebrate women and girls,” featured a live screening and panel discussion of the documentary MAKERS, a feminist, pro-abortion video account of prominent women who are described as “trailblazing” and whose “pioneering contributions” are purported to have changed America.

At Catholic Stand, writer Mary Rice Hasson describes the May 9th event, which was also sponsored by Girls, Inc. of NYC and PBS station WNET, as featuring “Girl Scouts front and center.” The event was headlined by feminist activists Marlo Thomas and Amy Richards.

Hasson writes:

What Is Human? – Undercover in America’s Late-Term Abortion Industry

The latest undercover video from the pro-life organization Live Action shows a host of abortion doctors nationwide equivocating about fetal development and the humanity of the unborn child, and then describing in graphic detail the late-term abortion procedure that would end these children’s lives.

In one shot the famous late-term abortionist Leroy Carhart tells Live Action’s investigator that in his “heart and mind,” life begins “when the mother thinks it begins, not when anybody else thinks it begins.”

He adds: “For some women, it’s before they conceive; for some women, it’s never. Even after they deliver, it’s still a problem, not a baby.”

Online for Life: Saving Babies From Abortion One Search at a Time

In a world where the internet is the go-to source for everything, the need for pro-life websites and resources is obvious.

The people at Online for Life recognized the need for pro-life resources to inundate the internet, and in response, they quit their for-profit jobs to work full-time saving pre-born children and their mothers from the pain of abortion by reaching them via the internet. Online for Life is a resource that connects abortion-minded parents with pregnancy resources that often address the very reasons why an abortion was being sought.

Woman suing over forced abortion is expecting again; abortionist subject of 9 lawsuits in 5 years

An attorney for Itai Gravely says that his 26-year-old client, who filed a lawsuit last week in which she claims she underwent a forced abortion at the hands of abortionist Dr. Rodney Lee Stephens, is now expecting another child. Dys made the announcement at a press conference on Monday, according Charleston (WV) Daily Mail.

Jeremiah Dys, president and general counsel of the Family Policy Council of West Virginia, who is affiliated with the Alliance Defending Freedom, filed the lawsuit last Friday on behalf of Itai Gravely.

Federal Appeals Court rules girls as young as 11 must have access to Plan B with no restrictions

by Lisa Graas

On Tuesday, a federal appeals court ruled that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) must immediately make one form of the abortifacient Plan B, also known as the “morning-after pill,” available to children of all ages over the counter. In April, a “clearly furious” federal judge, Edward Korman, had ordered the FDA to remove all restrictions, including age restrictions, on the sale of Plan B, but the FDA appealed the ruling. Tuesday’s decision denies a stay that had been requested by the FDA.

In response to the April ruling, Lila Rose, President of Live Action, issued a statement calling for Judge Korman’s decision to be immediately overturned.

I Survived a Failed Late-Term Abortion, But My Twin Brother Died

“Kermit Gosnell was convicted of murder and given a life sentence for the murder of three babies who were born alive in his clinic along with involuntary manslaughter for the overdose of a woman undergoing a late term abortion.”

These words keep ringing in my ears. Many have linked his practice to the “aftermath of Tiller.” Tiller was a late term abortionist in Kansas who changed abortion in our country. He made abortion, specifically late term abortions, gruesome yet easily obtainable, somewhat affordable and not nearly as frowned upon in our country today!

Pastors Must Preach Against Abortion More Often, We Must Encourage Them

Many people find themselves in churches in which ministers rarely, if ever, preach against abortion from the pulpit. The abortion issue is also a subject we rarely address in social circles or with family, even though we know it touches the lives of so many. Perhaps because abortion is so prevalent we end up avoiding the topic in order not to offend. Abortion, however, is a subject that must be addressed openly, particularly among Christians, and it can be done both in truth and grace.

“Pro-Choice” Blogger Mocks Father’s Anguish Over Abortion Of His Baby

A common tale is the man who gets a girl pregnant, and then pressures her into having an abortion. For men just looking to screw around and avoid commitment at any cost, abortion is the perfect solution. Abortion allows them to use a woman and then leave her, have sex and still avoid any kind of consequences or responsibility for their actions.

Hard times a-Komen: Race for the Cure canceled in seven cities after Planned Parenthood controversy

The Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation has announced it is cutting half of its three-day races due to poor response, a situation that a Komen spokeswoman blamed in part on the controversy over the charity’s decision last year to stop, and then renew funding to Planned Parenthood.

The cities where no one will run for a cure are Boston; Chicago; Cleveland; Phoenix; San Francisco; Tampa Bay; and Washington, D.C.

Last year, the Komen Foundation briefly opted to withhold more than half-a-million dollars in annual funding from the nation’s leading abortion provider on the grounds that Planned Parenthood does not perform mammograms. It simply refers patients to those who do, collecting a fee in the process.

Planned Parenthood

The watchdog group Stop Planned Parenthood (STOPP) has released its analysis of the latest annual report issued by the Planned Parenthood abortion business. The report shows abortion continues to be the dominant priority of the organization:

“Planned Parenthood continues to claim that abortion is three percent of its services in the 2010 report. By comparing the number of condoms, birth control pills, and other low cost items distributed to the number of abortions it commits, Planned Parenthood intentionally misleads the public and those in charge of providing government funding for its grisly business by painting a grossly inaccurate picture of what its business is all about,” the group says.

Congressional Bill Would Ban All Taxpayer Funding for Abortions

A new bill introduced in Congress would ban all federal taxpayer funding for abortions.

Yesterday, U.S. Reps. Chris Smith (R-NJ) and Dan Lipinski (D-Ill.), co-chairs of the Bipartisan Congressional Pro-Life Caucus, and U.S. Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS), announced the introduction of the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act.

The legislation, which has been introduced as H.R. 7 in the House and S. 946 in the Senate, has the support of 95 cosponsors in the House and 21 in the Senate.
