The Truth: Who Profits from Late-term Abortions?

As the United States faces historic budgetary problems, there is one industry that is not only thriving, but continues to be bolstered by hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars.  Shockingly, that favored industry is none other than the abortion industry, and as always, the primary beneficiary of those taxpayer dollars is none other than Planned Parenthood.

In what has become a tragic annual occurrence, yesterday we were all again reminded of the gigantic and ever-growing abortion business that is Planned Parenthood.  This reminder came in the form of Planned Parenthood’s 2011-2012 Annual Report, in which the largest abortion provider in the world admitted to taking more than half a billion dollars in taxpayer funding and performing nearly 334,000 abortions during a timeframe in which prenatal services and adoption referrals were essentially non-existent.

While there is abundant room for editorializing about Planned Parenthood’s reckless pursuit of profit via elective abortions – including a disregard for parental notification laws, a willingness to engage in sex-selective abortions and accounting tactics under scrutiny, the figures themselves (as reported by Planned Parenthood itself) are sobering to the point of grief:

◦   Planned Parenthood ended 333,964 lives through abortion in 2010-2011, up from 329,445 in 2009-2010.

◦   U.S. taxpayers were forced to fund $542.4 million of Planned Parenthood’s $1.199 billion budget.

It is indescribably tragic to have lost so many lives at the hands of one entity.  It is altogether breathtaking that you and I are being forced to fund that same entity every day.

We take a critical look into the dark origins of abortion, and return with a deeply disturbing picture: how a movement based on racism and population control usurped the momentum of the women’s rights movement to create something truly despicable– a multi-billion dollar industry that literally thrives on the destruction of unborn babies and the traumatizing of young pregnant women.

But what’s more shocking than reading statistics is seeing the affects of abortion on the women who’ve experienced it, hearing the stories of former abortion clinic operators who are responsible for thousands of deaths, learning about the shaky legal background of Roe v. Wade and understanding the predatory nature of this billion dollar industry.

That’s the goal of BloodMoney, a documentary film now available on DVD for churches, organizations or anyone who wants to spread the word about this “American Holocaust.”

“This is not a graphic pictorial movie of abortion,” reads an announcement about the film provided by Bill Schultz, director of Street Samaritans and Gospel Ministry. “However, those who see this movie will leave profoundly touched by the exposed severity of evil deeds and lies being perpetrated, especially against our youth, their future and the future of America.”

The abortion industry is the joyful recipient of a very successful and lucrative business.  If you don’t believe that it is a huge money-making scheme, check out your local provider for current prices.  With the efficiency of a drive-through, they will expedite the killing of your baby for just $765 for up to a 16-week-old child, but the price increases if the baby is over 19 weeks. You will be shelling out three times the amount, and paying a whopping $2,165 (see  http://www.fpamg.net/fees for current prices).

That’s pretty good income for a few minutes of ripping off the arms, the legs, and head of a baby onto a table; checking the body parts to make sure they’re all out, and then putting them in the trash.  It’s just 15 to 20 minutes work for a skilled physician, who can kill 10 or 15 babies a day. And it’s all legal, very efficient, and is done behind closed doors, just like the Holocaust.  The issue has little to do with pro-choice.  It is one of pro-cash. The love of money is still the root of all evil. ~ Ray Comfort

“Little is widely known about the business aspects of the abortion industry that relate to its function of supplying electively aborted fetuses to industries that exploit them for economic gain. An unintended consequence of the essentially unencumbered right to abortion has been the creation of a vast and lucrative market in fetal tissue, fetal organs and fetal parts.

It is important to shine a light on these practices that take place behind closed doors. There are powerful forces conspiring to keep this information from the public and the media with the ostensible conviction that they are protecting a woman‟s right to choose. However, it is becoming obvious that many ideological groups are being used as pawns by powerful financial interests.” ~ Vicki Evans, Commercial Markets Created by Abortion: Profiting from the Fetal Distribution Chain

The Women’s Medical Center estimates that a 2nd trimester abortion costs up to $3000 (with the price increasing the further along the pregnancy goes). If we take the $413 average for 1st trimester abortions and use a $3000 average for 2nd and 3rd trimester abortions, here’s what we get: $438 million is spent each year on first trimester abortions and $393 million is spent on late term abortions. That means that each year in the U.S., the abortion industry brings in approximately $831 million through their abortion services alone. If you add in the $337 million (or more) that Planned Parenthood (America’s largest abortion provider) receives annually in government grants and contracts for, the annual dollar amount moves well past 1 billion.

Abortion, to put it plainly, is a very lucrative business, and this has been true from the beginning. By last count, Planned Parenthood (a tax-exempt organization!) has $951 million in total assets.

What this means to the abortion debate is that the people and organizations who defend the morality of abortion the most vehemently are generally the very same ones who rake in huge profits from its continued availability. This sets up a significant conflict of interest and should immediately call into question any claims they might make about their desire to reduce the number of abortions. When Planned Parenthood argues that they’re working hard to reduce the frequency of abortion, the fact remains that their financial livelihood is built on abortion. Planned Parenthood, then, is just like the big tobacco companies. Does anyone really believe that tobacco companies want people to stop smoking? Does anyone really believe that Planned Parenthood wants people to stop having abortions? Follow the money.

Those who defend abortion, arguing that it is good and necessary for a healthy society, are defending an institution which is making them very wealthy. On the flip side, those who argue that abortion is an act of violence against an innocent human being, do so at great financial cost. There is no pay-off on the “pro-life” side. All the efforts to educate people about the reality of abortion consume large amounts of money, and there is no billion dollar product to refill the coffer. Think about it. Those who support abortion the most are growing rich off its continued availability while those who oppose abortion the most are losing money for their efforts. Who, then, is more likely to be honest and forthright about the issue at hand? Who is more likely to be motivated by principle and who is more likely to be motivated by profit?  www.abort73.com

… the abortion industry is indeed an industry – operating for profit, sometimes with cynical motives. Gosnell claims he was helping poor women, but he charged $3,000 for a procedure and enjoyed an annual income of $1.5 million. That he is accused to reusing medical supplies suggests that he upped his profit margin by reducing costs. Gosnell was a businessman, not a doctor.  http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/timstanley/100211991/the-kermit-gosnell-case-confirms-that-late-term-abortion-can-amount-to-legalised-infanticide/

A video released by Life Dynamics tells the story of a woman under the pseudonym, Kelly. The name of the informant cannot be revealed, as she is still involved in the work that she has exposed

… now we have evidence of a very clear additional reason why they want these late-term abortions to continue. The reason is that this is the one method that gives them intact fetal bodies from which they can obtain organs for research.

We only wanted the most perfect specimens that we could give to the researchers. ” And the age of these babies? The victims were up to and over 30-weeks gestation. ” We were looking for eyes, livers, brains, thymuses [lymphoid tissue], cardiac blood, cord blood, blood from the liver, even blood from the limbs. ”

Only an estimated 2% of the late-term aborted babies had abnormalities. ” The rest were very healthy. 95% of the time, she was just there to get rid of the baby. ” How many of the late-term – the ones around 30 weeks – would you see? ” Probably 30 or 40 babies a week. ”

Kelly stated, ” We would sell the tissue to private contractors. They in turn would sell to other universities and researchers. There was a high demand every week to buy such fetal tissues. It was shipped by UPS, FedEx, Airborne and sometimes by special couriers. Sometimes we would take the specimen in a box to the airport and put it on as regular cargo, to be picked up at the destination. ” And did these shipping companies know they were transporting baby parts? ” No. All they knew was that it was just human cells. But it could be a completely intact fetus. It might be a batch of eyes, or 30 or 40 livers going out that day, or thymuses.

And the leftover parts? ” We would usually put this down the garbage disposal along with the placenta and the leftover blood material. If it was too large to go down the drain, they had a special freezer and when they accumulated 60 or 70 fetuses in one box, it would be picked up for incineration. ”

And then the obvious question. Kelly is still working for this company, so why did she come and tell this story to a pro-life group?

One day when she was working, ” A set of twins at 24 weeks gestation was brought to us in a pan. They were both alive. The doctor came back and said, `Got you some good specimens, twins.’ I looked at him and said, `There’s something wrong here. They are moving. I don’t do this. This is not in my contract.’ I told him I would not be part of taking their lives. So he took a bottle of sterile water and poured it in the pan until the fluid came up over their mouths and noses, letting them drown. I left the room because I could not watch this. ”  But she did go back and dissect them after they were dead. She said, ” That’s when I decided it was wrong. I did not want to be there when that happened. ” And then it happened again and again. ” At 16 weeks, all the way up to sometimes even 30 weeks, and we had live births come back to us. ” And then? ” Then the doctor would either break the neck or take a pair of tongs and beat the fetus until it was dead. ”

Did the abortionist ever alter the procedures to get you the type of specimens you needed that day? Her answer was ” Yes, before the procedures they would want to see the list of what we wanted to procure. The [abortionist] would get us the most complete, intact specimens that he could. They would be delivered to us completely intact. Sometimes the fetus appeared to be dead, but when we opened up the chest cavity, the heart was still beating. ” She was asked if the type of abortion procedure was intentionally altered to deliver to you an intact specimen, even if that meant giving you a live baby?

Her answer was, ” Yes, that was so we could sell better tissue, so that our company would make more money. At the end of the year, they would give the clinic back more money because we got good specimens.”

These babies had to come out alive. There’s no way for them to be coming out dead. They were all alive. How they killed them is anyone’s guess. My guess is that they had to kill them in the bucket or put them in a corner and let them die slowly. ” And that was because the abortionist had seen how strongly you reacted to seeing them killed in front of you? “That’s correct. And he did not want to repeat those instances but they kept happening anyway, and that’s how I came to call you guys [Life Dynamics]. ”

These mothers pay large sums of money for late-term abortions and the abortionists in turn are given big money for these intact organs. The model specimens have to be: the bigger – the better; the older – the better; the more alive – the better.”

Earlier this year, the Obama Administration has approved the use of aborted fetuses in the use of research, even though this practice was previously banned. Obama utilized a loophole in the legislation that abortion clinics are taking advantage of to sell the aborted fetus parts to corporations for scientific study. The loophole allows for “reasonable payments associated with the transportation, implantation, processing, preservation, quality control, or storage of human fetal tissue.” Medical researchers and abortion clinics have partnered quietly without the knowledge of the American public. http://www.occupycorporatism.com/body-parts-for-profit-how-abortion-clinics-supply-stem-cell-research/
